Fort Kent – Lewellyn Morneault, 90, passed away at a Fort Kent healthcare facility on October 2, 2025. Lew was born in Fort Kent on December 17, 1934 to Wilfred and Olive (LaFerriere) Morneault.

Lew worked in the Maine woods as a part-time woodcutter, owned and operated a taxicab service, a pool hall, gas stations, worked as a car salesman for Etscovitz Chevrolet and operated Lew's Auto Sales until his retirement. He was a member of the Maine Army National Guard, a volunteer fireman for 18 years, a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a bail commissioner. He loved auctions and operated a seasonal flea market. When he set his mind to it, he made guitars, violins, dressers, rockers, etc.

He is survived by his children, Jane Morin and her husband Paul of Fort Kent, Linda Cyr and her husband Reno of Fort Kent, Nancy Peters of Terryville, CT, and Steven Morneault and his wife Susan of Terryville, CT. He was so proud of his 10 grandchildren, Shelly Pelletier, Benjamin Cyr, Kathryn Laplante, Jonathan and Thomas Morin, Kristen and Samantha Peters, Hunter, Logan and Ava Morneault and his 6 great grandchildren Hannah and Dylan Pelletier, Zoe Reardan, Reid and Miles Morin, and Esme Cyr. He is also survived by brothers Maurice Morneault of Buxton, Roland Morneault of North Carolina and Gilbert Morneault of Idaho.

Lew was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bernadette (Caron) Morneault, in 2018, his parents and brothers, Elzear and Roger Morneault, and his son-in-law, Michael Peters.

The Morneault family is exceptionally thankful for all the wonderful care he received both at home by his homecare providers and at Forest Hill Nursing Home.

In keeping with Lew's wishes there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
