Lewis Bassett Obituary
Lewis H. Bassett, age 76, proud Marine Corps veteran, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years (together for 50!) Margaret Bassett nee Speropoulos; his daughter Larvetta Bassett; his son Dallas (Katie Newby) Bassett; his bonus son David Scarbro; his grandchildren Michael, Channin, Devin, Gavin, Andreus, Sophia, and Isabella; his siblings Helen (Donald) Allison, Gina (Zeke) Trezevant, Kim Lee, and Trinell "Buzz" (Teresa) Bassett; and his sisters-in-law Linda (James) Smith, Carol (the late Jesse) Knight, Mary Speropoulos, Dixy (Michael) Kirby, and Tracy (the late George) Sykora. He is a dear uncle, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed. He will be especially missed among his friends and comrades from the Marine Corps.
He is preceded in passing and joins in Heaven his parents Wilbert and Ina Bassett; his bonus son Lewis H. Bassett, his granddaughter Alexandria Scarbro, his brother Brian Bassett, his parents-in-law Alma and Paul Speropoulos, and his brother-in-law Frank Speropoulos.
Friends and family will meet for visitation on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 10AM-12PM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. The funeral service will begin at 12PM, followed by entombment in Warren Cemetery and Mausoleum.
