It is with sadness and broken hearts that we share the news of Lou's passing on Friday, September 26, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Sandra Ann (Nycz) Centrella for 43 years until her passing in 2009. Born October 26, 1944 in Winsted; the son of the late Louis and Germaine (Tardiff) Centrella.
Lou worked as a Meatcutter for 45 years as well as owning a wallpaper and painting business. After his retirement, he enjoyed building hundreds of bird houses for friends and family all over the United States.
Some of his greatest joys were cooking Sunday dinners and holiday meals, gardening, long motorcycle rides and building and fixing everything. He truly loved time with family and friends, entertaining and enjoying a cold beer.
Always kind and generous, Lou would help anyone in need.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Tracy Hoskins and husband Scott of Barkhamsted, his two sons, Mark Centrella who was always by his side and Brian Centrella and wife Kara of Torrington; his cherished grandchildren, Danny and Ema Hoskins; and his devoted best friend, Mary Lou Chivas.
Friends may call on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 5 - 7 PM. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Winsted at 11 AM.
