Lewis Lloyd, age 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 2, 2026. He passed away peacefully at Methodist Medical Center after complications from COVID and the flu, surrounded by his loving family.
Lewis was a man of strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family. When he was able he attended Blowing Springs Baptist Church, he lived his life grounded in his belief in the Lord. He found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life-listening to old country songs, watching classic westerns, and faithfully leading every prayer at the dinner table. His steady presence, gentle guidance, and commitment to faith and family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Lewis was a dedicated and hardworking man throughout his life. He worked for the Anderson County Highway Department, where he operated a road grader, and served in maintenance roles with the state parks system. He later continued his maintenance work at Norris Elementary School, where he eventually retired. He took pride in honest work and the opportunity to serve his community.
Outside of work, Lewis had a deep appreciation for his roots. He loved learning about his family history and often enjoyed taking joyrides to visit the places where his family once lived, sharing stories and memories along the way.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn Lloyd; his son, Darrel Lloyd; and his grandson, Chris Watts.
He leaves behind his daughters: Debbie Underwood (Tommy), Connie Hall (Ricky), Teresa Martin, and daughter-in-law Mary Lloyd.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brandon Lindsay (Danielle), Kristy Skaggs (Brandon), Justin Hall, Ryan Lindsay (Caitlin), Dr. Brittany Kerber (John), and Taylor Phillips.
Lewis was blessed to witness the joy of his growing family and cherished his role as a great-grandfather. He leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Keegan, Peyton, Hunter, and Samuel Skaggs; Aiden Lindsay; Rylin and Portlyn Lindsay; Cole Kerber; and Everlee and Coraline Bell.
Special friends who loved Lewis are Jimmy Lee Dunca, Jessie White, and Perry Dupree.
Though hearts are heavy, Lewis's faith assures those he leaves behind of the promise of eternity.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7
Lewis will be deeply missed, but his life stands as a testimony of faith, love, and devotion to family. This is not goodbye-but until we meet again.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 pm, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow in the chapel with Ricky Hall officiating. Lewis's graveside will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Lindsay, Ryan Lindsay, Aiden Lindsay, Justin Hall, Tommy Underwood, Brandon Skaggs, and Samuel and Hunter Scaggs.
