Mr. Lewis Adderson Smith, Jr., 85, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Sunday evening, November 23, 2025, at MUSC-Orangeburg.
Born August 12, 1940, in Charleston, he was a son of the late Lewis Adderson Smith, Sr. and Annie Margaret Smith. He was a retired courier for the Post and Courier Newspaper in Charleston. Lewis was a member of Limestone Baptist Church in Ridgeville. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially loved cheering on Jeff Gordon. He also enjoyed relaxing in his recliner watching Gunsmoke.
Surviving are: his wife, Shirley O’Kelley Smith; children, Randy Smith (Kim) of Ridgeville, Robert Smith of Bowman, Denise Crawford of Goose Creek, and Derek A. Smith (Eva) of Cottageville; step-children, Darrell Hersberger of Florida, Dena “Dusti” Street of Cross, and Cyndi Colson (Michael) of Walterboro; brother, Jim “Tony” Smith (Marilyn); and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Tina Craven; and brother, Gene Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025, from Limestone Baptist Church, 1890 E. Main Street, Dorchester, South Carolina. The Reverend Dr. Zane Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
