Liane Carter Crowley, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2025, at the age of 52. Born at Newton-Wellesley Hospital on August 3, 1973, Liane was the beloved daughter of the late Kathleen (Kearns) Clifford and James E. Carter, Jr., and the cherished stepdaughter of the late John T. Clifford.
Liane was a proud graduate of the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsborough, Class of 1992, and went on to earn her degree from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1996. Known for her strong work ethic and engaging personality, Liane built a successful career as a sales representative for several companies over the years. More recently, she found a new passion in real estate and was working as a licensed agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices at the time of her passing.
Above all, Liane was devoted to her family. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her sons, Aidan and Gavin, who were the center of her world. She was deeply involved in their lives as she cheered from the stands at their hockey games, volunteering in their school activities, and supporting them in every way possible. In recent years, she took great pride in seeing them grow into thoughtful, accomplished young men. She also found joy and companionship in her beloved dogs, Haley and Carter.
Liane is survived by her sons, Aidan J. Crowley and his fiancée Ashley Hunter Lane of Amesbury, MA, and Gavin P. Crowley and his girlfriend Chloe Garceau of
Melrose, MA; her former husband, Aaron J. Crowley, and his partner Kate Murray of
Melrose, MA; her brother James Carter and his wife Alice of Beverly, MA; her sister Cindy Foisy of Milford, NH; and her brother Stephen Clifford of Houston, TX. She was a proud aunt to Breda Marchbank and her husband Martin of Weymouth, MA; Mairéad McLaughlin of Weymouth, MA; Paige E. Carter of
Melrose, MA; Vivian C. Carter of Beverly, MA; Reid H. Carter of Londonderry, NH; and Derek Foisy of Littleton, NH. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Liane will be remembered for her kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 4:00PM-7:00PM. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment at St. Paul's Cemetery, Arlington.
