With heavy hearts and joyous memories, we honor the life of Maria Louisa "Licha" Quinteros, who peacefully departed this world and entered the kingdom of Heaven on September 9, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in Lubbock on June 24, 1952, Licha worked as a bus driver for the City of Lubbock, where she touched the lives of countless individuals with her feisty and spirited personality.  Licha's vibrant spirit, love for life, and unwavering dedication to her family will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She loved gathering with friends, listening to music and dancing the night away! She enjoyed making jewelry, crocheting, and making quilts for her family in her later years.

Licha proudly identified with her Hispanic heritage, embracing her Mexican roots and the rich traditions they brought into her life. She proudly served as a member of the Lubbock Brown Berets in the early 1970's and protested police brutality, inequality of rights and social injustices of Chicanos in our community.  She advocated for LPD reform, equal employment and education rights and inclusion of local representation at all levels in Lubbock. She loved cooking Mexican food for her family and taught Bella so that she could continue the traditions through her recipes.

As a devoted mother, Licha leaves behind her cherished daughters, Sandra Perez and Josie Garza. Eddie Perez whom she loved very much and considered a son. Grandchildren, Jerry Garza, Victoria Garza, Orianna Perez, Isabella Perez, Bryand Perez and Great-Granddaughter Elizabeth Garza, who will carry forward the deeply instilled values of love of family, care, advocacy and compassion for others. Most importantly, her deeply profound faith and devotion to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Licha leaves her two beloved brothers, Juan Alvarez and Victor Alvarez; sisters, Hope Marden, Gloria Sanchez, Estella Rios, Ester Almeida, Blasa Lopez, Carmen Belez, and her sister of her heart Rebecca James, and many extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.

Licha was preceded in death by parents, Luis Alvarez and Flora Galvan; her brother, Ted Belez and her son, Robert Manriquez, Jr. May she rest in peace with our Father and loved ones and live on in our hearts forever.

We invite family and friends to join us in commemorating Licha's life with a Public Viewing to be held on Sunday September 14, 2025, from 1:00 PM at the Venue on Broadway, where all can come together to share memories and stories of love and laughter at a celebration of life from 6-8 pm.  Following this, a Funeral Service will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday September 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM, concluding with a burial at Peaceful Gardens that will serve as a final resting place, next to her son, for this remarkable woman.
