David Bridges, 92, of Lubbock, passed away and the angels lifted him into heaven on Sunday evening, February 8, 2026. David was born on April 3, 1933, in Hollis, Harmon County, Oklahoma, to the late Thomas David Bridges and Lillian Allie Darter.

He attended Arnett (of Hollis), Oklahoma High School, where he graduated as the Valedictorian of his class in 1951. He went on to attend Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in math and science in 1955.

David met the love of his life, Judy Williams, while they both were teaching at Matthews Junior High in Lubbock, and they united in marriage on June 2, 1960, in the Chapel of Broadway Church of Christ.

David taught math and science at Lubbock’s Matthews Junior High School from 1955 to 1960. He furthered his education by returning to Southwestern State College and obtaining his degree in pharmacy and graduating cum laude at the top of his class in 1963. He received the Lehn and Finck Gold Medal award.

Following graduation, he worked as a Pharmacist at John Halsey Pharmacy in Lubbock from 1963 until 2003. After his tenure at John Halsey Pharmacy, he worked at Caprock Drug from 2003 until 2013, when he retired.

David loved to read, especially westerns and fiction, and thoroughly enjoyed working in his beautifully kept yard and garden.

David and his wife attended Broadway Church of Christ for many years. David served as a Deacon for a period of time and also taught Bible classes. They began attending the Sunset Church of Christ in 1995.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his loving wife, Judy; one daughter: Janet Huntley and her husband Terry of Lubbock; and one sister: Lynette Haws of Choctaw, Oklahoma, along with many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind two sisters-in-law: Jane Vanderveer and Doris Williams. David was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jon David Bridges; a brother, J. W. Bridges and two sisters: Mary Juanita Bridges and Faunett Coward.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral home, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Resthaven Memorial Park, with David Hooten as the officiant and Ken Robinson as the song leader and Ron Haney leading the closing prayer.

The pallbearers will be David Lightner, Craig Moore, Eric Hardesty, Rodrick Evans, Gary Havenhill and Danny Hargrove.
