Liler Vann Obituary

Published by Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home - New Hartford on Oct. 20, 2012.
Sister Liler Vann, affectionately known as Mother Vann, was born in Scarboro Georgia on May 27, 1921. She was the daughter of the late James and Annie Lundy. As a young girl, Mother Vann moved to Boston, MA. Later on in life she relocated to Utica, NY. She resided in Utica for over 50 years until the time of her death, October 20, 2012. In 1978, she became a member of Payne's Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Bishop Payne. Mother Vann was a faithful member until her health failed. She was an active member of the CWC, Pastor's Aide Committee, and a member of the Senior Choir. Also, Mother Vann was a very passionate and involved youth Sunday School teacher. She always loved to lead the opening Sunday School song. Mother Vann loved to fish, crochet, knit and sew. She also loved and cherished her weekly Thursday phone calls with her siblings, nieces and loved ones. She leaves to mourn, two sisters, Evangelist Inez O Shelton and Margaret Brown, both from Boston, MA; one brother, James Oliver of Aiken, SC; one sister-in-law, Pearl Oliver, and her good friend Sister Anna Mae Howard. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relative and friends. "The way was sometimes dark with sadness, but now I'm sure of all its' gladness. No more to meet this world of force, for I know I have finished my course." Mother Liler Vann's family wishes to thank each and every one for their warm thoughts and prayers during our hour of sorrow. May God continue to bless each of you.
