Lilla Rains Mitchell

Lilla Rains Mitchell, 96, of Monticello, FL went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 27, 2024. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Memorial M.B. Church, with Interment in Elizabeth Bradley Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF MONTICELLO (850-942-1950). A graduate of Howard Academy High School, Mrs. Mitchell graduated as a certified cook for FAMU's Manpower Program and was a cook in the FAMU Student Dining Hall for over 30 years. She served as a Church Mother at Elizabeth Dills and loved puzzles of all kinds. Survivors include her sons: Willie Mitchell, Louis (Verdell) Mitchell; daughters: Gloria Scurry, Retha Ford Walker and Mathstianna Ruby (Arthur) Dunlap, Vivian Mitchell and Fontella (Shedrick) Green; 20 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 41 great-great grandchildren; brother, Frank Daniels; sisters: Della Williams and Dorothy Cuyler; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
