Sandra Hamrick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beggs Funeral Home - Monticello Chapel on Feb. 3, 2026.
Sandra Jean Smith Hamrick, age 82, of Monticello, Florida, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida, remembered for her quiet strength, faith, and lifelong service to others.

Sandra was born on June 18, 1943, in Monticello, Florida, to the late Jim and Alma Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and grew up on Jumpie Run Plantation. She graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1961.

In November 1961, she married the love of her life, Ferrell. They shared 55 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, family, and devotion until his passing on October 3, 2017.

Sandra devoted much of her life to service, both professionally and personally, approaching every role with dedication and care. She retired from the State of Florida, where she worked as a transcriptionist for the Florida Legislature. Over the years, she also worked for Monticello Printers, Jefferson County High School, and served as an assistant to State Representative Janegale Boyd. She was widely respected and loved for her reliability, strong work ethic, and the steady presence she brought to every workplace and community she served.

A lifelong Southern Baptist, Sandra was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Monticello, where she served on numerous committees and was always willing to help wherever she was needed. Her servant heart, compassion, and loving nature were evident in her faith and in the way she lived her life. Sandra's quiet strength shaped her life through consistent acts of care, service, and love.

Sandra is survived by her sons, Lester (Teresa) and Rusty (Catherine); her grandchildren, Ricky, Scott (Amber), Logan, Riley, Landon, and Kyle; her great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Nora; her sister, Jan Kilpatrick; her brother-in-law, Jearl Birdwell; her sisters-in-law, Vivian Smith and Alice Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her sisters, Melba Carter, Gwynn Smith, Faye Sanders, and Norma Birdwell; her brothers, Jimmy Smith and Sidney Smith; and her brothers-in-law, Bill Carter, Archie Smith, Jimmy Sanders, and Kelly Kilpatrick.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Monticello, 325 West Washington Street, Monticello, Florida. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Daryl Adams officiating.
