Berlene Walker Cooksey, age 88, passed away on November 4, 2025, in Thomasville, Georgia. She was born on March 13, 1937, in Wacissa, Florida, to Lyman Walker Sr. and Minnie Lee Walker.
After graduating from Jefferson County Highschool, Berlene worked as a Bus Driver for Jefferson County Schools for many years. She loved her family dearly and was a God-fearing woman.
She is survived by her sons, Franklin "Bruce" Cooksey Jr. and JR Cooksey; grandsons, Tony Verduzco, Austin Cooksey, Brandon Cooksey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lyman Walker Sr. and Minnie Lee Walker; husband, Franklin J. Cooksey Sr.; daughter, Minnie Lee Verduzco; brothers, Lyman Walker Jr., Robert "Butch" Walker, Glenn "Bunny" Walker, Ulysses "Bo" Walker, Loren "Stud" Walker; and sisters, Lavonne McElrethe, Oralee Walker, Louise Connell, Rena Hightower, and Betty Jean Raker.
There will be a visitation on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Transforming Life Church, in Lloyd, Florida, at 10:00 am, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. (1206 Springfield Road). A Burial Service will be held at Beth Page Cemetery in Monticello, Florida (Beth Page Road).

I can only imagine what she said when she saw Jesus and how her face lit up! How about the reunion with all her loved ones. What a glorious day it was when she arrived in Heaven!

I can´t remember going in the summer to stay at AUNT Berlene´s she would take us in the bedroom every day and read the Bible to us and pray she´ll be dearly missed. We love her so much.
