Lillian Gross, 92, of Pearl River, NY, formerly of Orangeburg, NY died peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Promenade at Blue Hill where she has resided for the past six years. Lillian grew up in New York City where she met her husband, Anthony Gross. The couple was married 65 years before Anthony's passing in 2017.
Faith was a cornerstone of Lillian's life. She was an active parishioner of St. Catharine's Church and School. Lillian was a member of The Ladies Guild and The Altar Society. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and brought communion and prayers to people in their homes.
Lillian channeled a childhood dream of becoming a nurse' to serve as an EMT for the South Orangetown Ambulance Corp. Both Lillian and Tony enjoyed traveling through the USA and Europe. Their most memorable visits took them to family in Austria, specifically Jabing and Gaas. They shared this love with their children and grandchildren.
Growing up in New York City, she dreamed of having a house with room for gardens and she dedicated a flower garden to her beloved Blessed Mother. Lillian was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She filled the house with good food (Paprika Chicken), music and polka dancing. Her door was open to all.
Lillian is survived by her daughters, Donna Ancuta (Alex) of Leland, NC, Janet Longo (Ralph) of Manasquan, NJ and Carolyn Victor (Jim) of Leland, NC. Her grandchildren are Michael Ancuta (Karen), Erika Roach (Brad), Christina DiChino (Kenny), Stephanie Garzia (Matt), Mariel O'Donnell (TJ), Robert Victor (Katherine) and Jaqueline Victor. Her great grandchildren are James O'Donnell, Davis and Lily Ancuta, Natalie Garzia, Katherine and Evangeline DiChino and Beckham Roach. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, James Victor.
The family will receive visitors at Moritz Funeral Home on Friday, September 13th, 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 14th, 10am, St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt, NY. Lillian's final resting place will be at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Hospice of Rockland or the BrightFocus Foundation for Macular Degeneration Research.
