Lillian Rose Kochanski, 96, of Somerset, MI, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Victorian Villa in Jackson, MI. Lillian's family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at St. Rita's Catholic Church, Clarklake, MI. Her funeral mass will directly follow at 12:00 p.m. Father Bosco Padamattummal will serve as celebrant. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She was born on September 4, 1929, in Detroit, MI, to John and Antoinette Smarch. Lillian was the first one to graduate in her immediate family from High School. She married the love of her life and next-door neighbor, Walter J. Kochanski, on September 3, 1949, in Delray, MI. Lillian spent over 40 years working for the Detroit Bank & Trust Company, now known as Comerica Bank, in the distribution department as a clerk. They bought their first home in Southgate, MI and after retirement they moved to Lake Somerset to live in the home her husband built. Lillian loved to garden, cook, bake, crochet, read and going to the casino. After retirement, she volunteered at Foote Hospital for many years. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Lillian will be missed by her children, Linda Cullen, Daniel "Butch" Kochanski and Randall (Elisha) Kochanski; her grandchildren, Kathleen (Nate) Jakinovich and Joseph McCarthy; and her great grandchildren, Aden, Elijah, Clara and Walter. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kochanski; her parents, John and Antoinette; her 1 sister and 3 brothers; and her son-in-law, Walter Cullen.
