SIGOURNEY-Lillian M. Pfaff, age 103, of Sigourney, died Friday, December 1, 2023, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.
Lillian was born October 24, 1920, in Harper, to Lloyd and Valburga (Salm) White. She attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School and graduated from Keota High School. She then worked for attorney B.J. Byrne prior to her marriage to Kenneth Pfaff on October 24, 1940 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Following WWII they moved to Sigourney, where Lillian worked in the Keokuk County Treasurer’s office. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Sigourney Country Club, and bridge club. Lillian was a Girl and Boy Scout leader and was active with the P.T.A. and all her children’s activities when they were in school. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, the Iowa Hawkeyes, her cats, Sam and Albert and traveling with Kenneth and visiting her children.
Survivors include three children: Larry (Kathy) Pfaff of Nisswa, Minnesota, Tom (Barb) Pfaff of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Mary Sue (Mike) Lloyd of Eustis, Florida; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Kenneth; two sisters: Elizabeth White in infancy and Miriam Leinen and brother: Robert White.
Memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sigourney, with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. The service will also be live streamed on the Powell Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney.
In lieu of flowers, a general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Lillian and her family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
