Lillian B Radolec, 95, died peacefully in her home on May 25, 2022. She was happily married to the late Joe Radolec for 74 years. She is survived by her six children Cheryl, Nancy (Tom), Jay (Barbara) Bill (Eileen) Cynthia Lapia (Gary) and Lana Rinaldo (Anthony). She was proud of her nine grandchildren Hilary, Matthew (Allison), Megan, Mackenzy (Mike), Jonathan, Nicole (Brian), Brooke, Lauren (Andrew) and Naomi. To her delight she recently became a great grandmother to Stella, and Ryann.
Lillian grew up in Brookline with her parents Robert and Henrietta Stark. She had an older brother, Cal and sister Loretta. She attended South Hills High School where she met the love of her life, Joe. After they married, they lived a busy life in Beechview where Lillian was active in the PTA, bowling, card club and Christian mothers. She loved to swim, and many summer days were spent at the pool or being involved with her children's scouting and little league baseball activities. In winter, she would often be one of the first sled riders down the alley. In 1976, Lillian had a near fatal accident which she survived with the support of her family, friends, neighbors and faith community. She was fiercely determined not to let that event embitter or define her and instead choose to live a life of joy and quiet strength. She had a smile that would light up a room and shared it freely.
Throughout her life Lil enjoyed being outside and shared her appreciation for the birds, flowers, stars and wonders of nature. She always had a sewing or knitting project to keep her out of trouble as evidenced by her gifting of many afghans, hats, slippers and scarves. Lillian made others feel welcome in her home and was a good listener although she had no tolerance for gossip.
Lillian's family is grateful to the many dedicated medical professionals who cared for her over the years especially her most recent helper and friend Miss Linda.
Visitation with family and friends will be Thursday June 2nd from 2 to 8 PM at BEINHAUERS, 2630 W. Liberty Ave., Dormont, 412-531-4000. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish, St Pius X Church in Brookline on Friday June 3rd at 9:30 AM. Interment to follow at Mt Lebanon cemetery. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (https://pittsburghfoodbank.org/).
