Lillian Scapicchio Obituary

Lillian (Alessi) Scapicchio, 95
1929 - 2024
Nahant - Lillian (Alessi) Scapicchio, age 95, of Nahant, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Peter S. Scapicchio. She was raised in South Boston, the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Sciaba) Alessi. She had lived in Nahant for nearly 70 years.
Lillian had worked for Western Union for 28 years. Her love of flowers was her passion, she has one of the best looking yards in Nahant. Her garden of tomatoes and vegetables that her late husband Peter proudly planted and took care of for over 20 years was their pride and joy. She loved gardening, eating and shopping and for many years enjoyed the time she spent at the Nahant Senior Center. There she enjoyed the excellent lunch they created each day as well as the many friends and workers she loved spending time with. She was grateful to her grandson, John Tamasi and her nephew John Caprio, her "favorite Johnny's", for their help and companionship over the years.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Tamasi-Englert and her husband Ralph of Boynton Beach, FL; as well as nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Dr. John Strobis as well as her four brothers and sisters.
Service Information: Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Nahant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be in the church from 10AM-11AM, prior to the mass. I met Lillian at the Nahant Senior Center and we both discovered we both grew up in the same neighborhood in South Boston. I found Lilian to be warm and welcoming to me, a perfect stranger. We became friends and I always enjoyed her company.
I will miss her dearly. She was one of a kind and oh so fashionable. She brought many a smile to my lips
Sincerely

Ed and I saddened to hear that our lovely neighbor, Lila, has passed away. She always stopped by to say hello and was so helpful in offering her advice on gardening. I will always see her in my minds eye, stopping to talk to her brother, Joe, while out for her walk. A lovely lady, who will be missed.

I don´t recall ever seeing Lillian without her trademark smile. Whether it was out and about town or in Market Basket shopping with her husband Peter, she was all way gracious and pleasant. May she rest in peace in the company of her husband Peter, son John and brother Joe.
