On Dec 6, Lillian H. Sechrist, a cherished resident of Pine City, NY, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family at the remarkable age of 101, leaving behind a legacy of a life richly lived and a community deeply touched by her love. She was born on July 9, 1923 in Cogan House, PA., and daughter of the late, John & Lillian Jeffrey Page. Lillian married the love of her life, Harold E. Sechrist on May 18, 1942 in Maryland and enjoyed 78 wonderful years of marriage. Lillian had a strong faith in the Lord and was an active member of the Penn. Ave. United Methodist Church for many years. Lillian worked for the Town of Southport in the assessor's office and was a devoted mother. Throughout the years, she supported her children in many ways. She started the Dixie Lanes Youth Bowling League, for which she was inducted into the Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also a softball coach and room mother. She was a proud grandmother and loved supporting her grandchildren. Their education was important to her, and she attended all their concerts, games, grandparents' days, and recognition ceremonies. Her hobbies included playing cards, bingo, bowling, and rooting for her favorite teams, NY Mets, and the NY Knicks. Lillian and Harold often filled in for Santa and Mrs. Claus within their community. Lillian was also predeceased by her eight siblings, her beloved husband, and her cherished son, Harold (Hal) Sechrist. She is survived by her loving children, Bonnie (Dick) Shook, Elmira; and Bev (Rob) George, Horseheads; daughter-in-law, Barb Sechrist, Dundee; cherished grandchildren, Annette (Stef) Ringer, Bernedette (Joseph) Rohl, Andrea George, Brittany George; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Katherine, Julia Valicenti, Maxwell Rohl, Colton Pratt, and Zachary, Gracie Ringer; sister-in-law, Carolyn Page; special nieces and nephews, and a host of caregivers, friends and neighbors. Friends and family will be received at Pennsylvania Ave. United Methodist Church, 1238 Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City, NY 14871 on Thur. Dec. 12, 2024 between the hours of 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 6:15 p.m. with Rev. Andy Pollock officiating. Lillian will be laid to rest privately beside her beloved husband and son in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Lillian's memory to the Penn. Ave. Church Food Ministry.
