Lillian (Lily) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 23, 2025.
Lily was born on the Northwest side of Chicago and was a graduate of Steinmetz High School.
She went onto marry Robert K. Smith Jr. and raised a large family while working part time at Northern Trust Bank.
During her young married life, she enjoyed much laughter, spirits, pinochle and poker with her siblings and their spouses at the extended family holidays. Throughout the years they took their family on multiple road trips, to various museums, state beaches, the zoo, and company picnics. There were decades of viewing her children's sporting events.
Lily found time in her busy life to be involved in sewing/book clubs, crocheting and baking delicious dessert. In her former community church with other parishioners, they put together the bulletin. She was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and COULD NOT be reached at THAT time!! Her love of shopping and high fashion showed in her many outfits she modeled at the family gatherings.
Prior to the passing of the love of her life, Lily and Bob traveled to Colorado, visited countless stamp shows, antique, and doll shops.
After retirement Lily traveled extensively with her lady friends, enjoyed theatre, catching a game at Wrigley, took up piano lessons, and continued her many adventures with her large family.
Lillian is survived by her children: Patrick (Victoria), Deborah (George), Katherine (John), Timothy (Cynthia), Barbara (Anthony), Colleen (Nicolas), and Terence. Her 19 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, 2 sisters Mary and Jean, many nieces, and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert K, one son Michael, siblings, and their spouses: Thomas (Jean)(Pearl), Barbara, Robert (Phyllis), Bart (Madeline), 2 brother-in-law's O.Pierre and Joseph.
Her life was filled with much love and joy!!
