Lillian J. Tootle, 90, passed away peacefully at her residence on November 7, 2023, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born on January 11, 1933, in Reidsville, Georgia and lived in this area all of her life.
Lillian Tootle was a remarkable woman who wore many hats throughout her life. She was a farmer's wife and dedicated several years of her career to Claxton Manufacturing, Glennville Lingerie, Strickland's Pharmacy, and Colonial Boutique.
Lillian had a personality that could light up any room she entered and while she excelled in working in the public, Lillian found immense joy in being a homemaker. Her dedication to creating a warm and loving home was unmatched. Lillian poured her heart into caring for her family and ensuring everyone around her felt loved and supported. She was an excellent cook that loved sharing dishes from her kitchen and maybe a few stories too.
Beyond her career endeavors, Lillian had many hobbies and interests that brought her great happiness. She cherished moments spent fishing and sewing as she meticulously crafted beautiful pieces with her needlework. Lillian had an unyielding passion for working in her yards and tending to her gardens. The vibrant flowers that bloomed under her care were a testament to her nurturing spirit and green thumb. She also loved embarking on exciting adventures traveling with friends and family. Lillian enjoyed the soothing melodies of country music as well as the soul-stirring harmonies of gospel music.
Lillian was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, dear friend and a member of Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by, husband, Adron Tootle, a son, Kenneth "Kenny" Tootle, brothers, Cecil Joseph, Prentice Joseph, Lamont Joseph and sister, Shirley Joseph Lynn.
Left to cherish her memory are:
Daughters, Sandra Durrence (Danny) of Glennville, Georgia
Debra Ware (Bobby) of Richmond Hill, Georgia
Sister, Emma Lee Igou of Rincon, Georgia
Grandchildren, Hope Tootle, Jennifer Bradley (Ricky), Jamie Durrence, Layton Ware, Six Great Grandchildren, Two Great-Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lillian's caregivers, Jean Christensen, Hope Gay, Mandy Stubbs and Ogeechee Area Hospice.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 10, 2023, at Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Brannen Family Funeral Services, Glennville, Georgia, "Our Family Serving Your Family."
