Mrs. Lily Corbitt Parker, (84), of Scottsboro, Alabama passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 7, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family.
She is predeceased by her husband, Lucian Clifford Parker, her mother, Ola Curtis Corbitt; her brothers J.B., Rayford, Bill, Jim and Walker Corbitt, and her sister Martha Corbitt Hall.
Lily is survived by her son, Bobby Glen Parker (Angie), her daughter Sherry Parker Pittman (Mark), and her grandson Zachary Alan Kirby (Kali), and granddaughters, Jennifer and Stacy Smith.. She is also survived by her sisters Mrs. Lois Esslinger, Mrs. Lynda Houston (Peter), Ms. Brenda Wood and her brother, Lawrence Corbitt (Sandra).
The family extends our special appreciation to Lily's friend and neighbor, Judy Laswell, who loved and cared for Lily dearly. They spent many hours enjoying dinners together while watching their favorite shows.
Lily retired from Maples Industries in Scottsboro after 35 years and she spent her retirement
growing a vegetable garden that no other competitor could rival. No one could grow tomatoes that tasted as perfect and flavorful as Lily's. Anyone who visited Lily in the summer left with a trunk full of vegetables; she knew everyone's favorites. Lily still home canned and she could advise you on the best way to make everything flavorful; her home canned sauerkraut was unsurpassed.
Her flower garden is a marvel. Lily had an encyclopedic knowledge of every flower, the type fertilizer it needed, and how to prune it to ensure it had the biggest and most bountiful blooms. She gladly shared her knowledge; she loved to talk about how to grow vegetables and flowers to perfection. Lily had flowers that are classified as annuals but hers grew back year after year; she groomed them to become perennials. Only Lily with her careful nurturing and her in-depth knowledge could achieve this.
Lily was a mother to everyone – regardless of whether that person thought they needed mothering. She loved us all and her goal was to prevent us from making mistakes that could be avoided if we would only listen to her wisdom and her motherly advice.
Lily enjoyed the simple things in life and her eyes always lit up with pride when she talked to anyone about Bobby, Sherry, Zach, and Kali. We each spend most of our time focusing on what we love - and Lily truly loved her children, her grandson and her family.
Funeral arrangements are being provided by the Scottsboro Funeral Home. Mrs. Parker will lie in state Friday, July 11, 2025 until time for the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Procession for the burial will follow the service and will be at the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, Alabama.
