Lily V. Thomas (maiden name: Kattil Chandy Saramma) of Dover, Delaware, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. She was 100 years old.
Born on September 11, 1925, in Trivandrum, Kerala, India to the late K.V. Chandy and Sosama (Chalukunnel) Chandy, Lily was one of nine children in a family of four brothers and four sisters. She spent her childhood and early adult life in her ancestral home, Kattil House, in Puthuppally, Kottayam, Kerala.
She married V.O. Thomas and welcomed three children, Rajan, Leela, and Meena. A devoted wife and a loving mother, Lily dedicated her life to caring for her husband and children. She was God-fearing, strong, resilient, graceful, and full of wisdom, with a deep respect for education. Her energy and dedication were evident in all that she did.
Lily enjoyed cooking, embroidery, and knitting. Known for her sociable nature and keen intelligence, she easily formed lasting connections and left a meaningful impression on all who knew her.
In addition to her parents (1966), Lily is preceded in death by her husband (1996), three brothers, K.C. George (1959), K.C.Kurian, and K.C. Chandy (2007); four sisters, Aliamma Abraham (1986), Sosamma Itty (1974), Marykutty Koshi (1993), and Thankamma Varkey (2001); and her daughter-in-law, Alice Jacob Rajan (2003).
Lily is survived by her youngest brother K. C. Thomas of Puthuppally, Kerala; her three children, V.T. Rajan of Briarcliff Manor, New York, Leela Thomas of Dover, Delaware, and Meena Thomas of Austin, Texas; two granddaughters, Evelyn Rajan and Alina Rajan of Briarcliff Manor, New York; and several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
A public visitation will be held at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon, on Saturday January 17, 2026, at Grace Church Dover, 350 McKee Road, Dover, Delaware. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Dover, Delaware.
