Linda Broker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 5, 2025.
Navarre - Linda Lea Oglesby Broker, 81, of Navarre, Florida, passed away on September 1, 2025, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born in Allentown, Florida, Linda was the daughter of the late Roy Jennings and Linna Mae Oglesby. She grew up in Allentown and Milton, where she graduated from Milton High School. She went on to Florida State University, earning a degree in International Affairs and joining Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. It was there she met her husband, 1st Lt. Michael H. Broker Jr. They married in 1965 and shared nearly 60 years together while living in New Hampshire, Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona, Germany and Virginia during his military and civil service careers.

In retirement, Linda and Mike settled in Navarre in 2000, where they designed and built their home. They were active in Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church and Linda was also deeply involved in the Navarre and Florida Garden Clubs, earning numerous awards as a judge and competitor. She was gifted in gardening, floral arranging, cooking, and cake decorating, but her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandsons who lovingly called her "Yaya."

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol Oglesby Tomek. She is survived by her husband, Mike; her children, Michael H. Broker III (Kamila) and Karen H. Hedden (Mark); her grandsons, Mason and Jarod Hedden; siblings June (Tom) Frey and Charles Jennings "Joe" (Nancy) Oglesby; sister-in-law Betty Duck and daughters Amy McRae and Suzie; along with many other loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Loving thanks to the Sacred Heart Oncology team for the many years of compassionate care Linda received.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton, with a burial following at Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church.

Linda will be remembered for her warmth, her talents, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
