Mrs. Linda ‘Carol’ Clark Simpson, 78, of Pembroke Circle, Elberton, formerly of Athens, wife of the late Harvey M. Simpson, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.
Carol was born in Elberton on February 24, 1945, daughter of the late William Eugene “Bill” Clark and Beryl Juliette Acker Clark. She was a graduate of Elbert County High School and worked as a bookkeeper for most of her life, retiring from Grandview Nursing Home and Gardenview Funeral Chapel, both in Athens.
A present member of Jackson County Baptist Church in Jefferson, Carol was a former member of First Baptist Church of Elberton where she sang in the choir and was the 3 year old Sunday school teacher for 10 years. She was an avid traveler with a special love of the beach, especially Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed walking around the mall and watching the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. Above all, “MeMommy” loved her family dearly.
Surviving are her children and their spouses: Kristi and Allen Wilson of Elberton and Kevin and Nicki Blackmon of Crawford; brother, Dennis and Mona Clark of Warner Robins; grandchildren and their spouses: Kortni and Ashley Moore of Key West, FL, Kody and Ginna Blackmon of Athens, and McKenzi and Josh Seymour of Elberton; step-granddaughter, Abby Turner of Crawford; and three great-grandchildren: Emryen, Owen, and Oakes.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is reunited in Heaven with her namesake and granddaughter, Bridgette Carol Ruff, who is now lovingly being rocked by her MeMommy.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 24, from 2:00-2:45p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Memorial services celebrating Carol’s life will follow at 3:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with her brother, Rev. Dennis Clark, officiating.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, https://www.stjude.org.
