Linda Wheeler Cook, 74, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord on Monday July 24, 2023. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was the daughter of the late Annual Wheeler and Mattie Lee Hooper.

Linda was a Jackson County School employee for over forty years, thirty of those years she drove the handicap bus. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Linda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Cook;  brothers, Harold Nicholson, Tommy Wheeler; sisters, Catherine Estes and Mary Farley.

Linda is survived by three sons; Ricky (Jill), Ronnie (Judy), and Randy (Lisa) all of Sylva; grandchildren, Larry (Beth) of Asheville, LeeAnne, Coleman, Casey, Mamie, Mitchell, Meredith, McKayla, and Nathan, all of Sylva; great grandchildren, Sadie M., Alexia, Lathan, Lane, Zach, Malachi, Sadie R., Lucy, Oakley, Ella, Micha, and Reed. Also surviving are a sister, Lisa Wilson; and a brother, Alvin Nicholson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 28th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Avery Brown and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Cook Family Cemetery.
