Linda L. Cook, age 81 of Prairie du Chien passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, at Garden View Place in Monona, IA. She was born on May 9, 1944, to Gaylord and Carole (DesRocher) Smethurst. Linda married James Cook on September 5, 1986. She worked for many years at the Crawford County Courthouse as the Deputy County Clerk until retirement. Linda's parents built the Falling Rock Bar and Campground, which they owned and operated together for many years. She was part of the Falling Rock Walleye Club that was also started by her parents. She was loved by many and always enjoyed good music and company. Linda's husband James Cook preceded her in death on December 26, 1999. She is survived by 2 sons, Marty (Donna) Prew and Darren (Penny) Prew; daughter Andra Meana (Brett Toberman); brother Richard (Jan) Smethurst, sister Marilyn "Molly" Seymour and sister-in-law Marilyn Smethurst; grandchildren, Ali, Ben, Lizzie, Kyler, Jerica, Gavin; great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Chiara, as well as Penny's son, Adam. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Skip and Ronald Smethurst and a niece Jeanne Smethurst.
Funeral Services will be Friday, November 7, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie du Chien, with burial in the National Cemetery in Eastman, WI. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Garden View Place in Monona, IA or St. Croix Hospice.
