Linda McLeroy Cooper, age 86, most recently of Hoschton, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Linda was born in Athens and spent her childhood there before moving to Atlanta. She was an only child and attended Oconee Street Elementary School, Athens High School and took classes at UGA. It's safe to say she remained a lifelong Bulldog.
Linda had an entrepreneurial spirit and established Three Bears Daycare Center, which she ran alongside her mother, for many years. She purchased several KinderCare Learning Centers located throughout Atlanta, formed Southern Video Systems which provided service on commercial camera equipment and finally opened Cooper Enterprises with her husband serving the railroad industry. They eventually retired to Lake Oconee where she hosted more parties than can be counted. In addition to her family, one thing Linda enjoyed was dance joining an adult competition group out of Fleetwood Studios where she formed several close friendships that were very important to her.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Idus O. Cooper in 2011. She is survived by her daughters, Verba Brown (Ricky), Glori Burrell (John) and Melissa Rungruang (Russell). Grandchildren, Heath Brooks (Marylyn), Parker Petrea (Sandra), Andrew Petrea (Deanna), Kimberly Berry, Robbie Berry (Lily). She had 6 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. That's an impressive family for having been an only child!
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 24, from 4:00 – 6:00pm at the funeral home. There will be a private entombment service on Monday, August 25.
