Linda Craven Obituary

Linda Ella Craven, née Thibodeaux, 82, of Highlands, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. Born on January 3, 1943, in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, next to the youngest of 13 children. Often called "Sis," Linda lived a life of devoted care for her family and a generous spirit that touched many people.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Craven (married 27 years until his death in 1990); her parents, Colbert Thibodeaux and Elrose Guidry; brothers Clifford, Andrew, Eugene, Lawrence, Daniel, and Ajaston Thibodeaux; sisters Doris Comeaux, Juanita Bush, Henrietta Gordon, and Joyce Armstrong.

Linda's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Linda ("Fay") Dever and husband Lemont; her son, Ray Craven and wife Crystal; and her daughter, Shelia Craven, to whom she devoted her life with selfless care and love. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Dequincy Dever, Trayvon Craven, Devin Craven, and Reagan Craven; and her great-grandchildren: Maisyn Dever, D.J. Craven, Ariene Craven, and Dallas Craven. She is also survived by her brothers, Norman Thibodeaux and Herman Thibodeaux, and her brother-in-law, Fred Craven, as well as many cherished nephews, nieces, and friends.

A woman of remarkable natural talent, Linda was a gifted seamstress whose skilled hands created countless wedding gowns and prom dresses, generously given with or without payment. Her kindness extended to her kitchen, where her legendary "10/10" gumbo and "anytime" pancakes made her home a warm and welcoming gathering place for all who knew her. She also loved her flowers and plants; she enjoyed zydeco music and family get-togethers. She insisted on keeping a tidy home and had a special way of fixing everything up nicely. She prayed daily and faithfully, always believing in God's providence and care for her and her loved ones. Linda will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her creative talents, and the love she poured into everything she did.

The family wishes to thank those who took special care of Linda during her final illness and everyone who has offered condolences and favors during the time of her passing from this life.
