Deborah Matocha Obituary

Deborah "Debbie" Ann Farmer Matocha, of Highlands, Texas, ran into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 16, 2025.

Debbie lived life to the fullest, overflowing with faith, love, compassion, and generosity. She was passionate about her family, especially her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment she spent with them. Known for her kind heart and giving spirit, Debbie never met a stranger. She was always ready to help anyone in need, whether she knew them or not. She heard of the death of a teenage girl who lived down the street and, on her way home one day, she took the family a meal. She told them she did not know them, however she knew of their loss and wanted to reach out to them and show them love and give her deepest sympathies. That was Debbie.

She devoted much of her life to caring for others as an at-home caretaker for the elderly, especially her parents when the time came. Through her work, she touched countless lives with her compassion, patience, and gentle spirit.

Debbie's happy place was in her kitchen, cooking for family and friends, creating not just meals but lasting memories. Debbie also enjoyed Bible Study, Sewing, playing Bunko, Dominoes, and Cards - she especially enjoyed it when she was winning.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Doris Farmer; her brother, Mark Farmer; and her nephew, Paul Farmer.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Frank Matocha; her children, Tina Moffett, Timothy Faubion, Teri Moffett, and Mandy Moffett; her grandchildren, Taylor Thompson (Carolyn), Kayann Thompson, Rebeca Bassham (Cody), Nicole Seligmann, Shannon Hyatt, Shelby Fleming, Cayden Faubion, and Averie Faubion; and her great-grandchildren, Dani Thompson, Gavin Thompson, Paisley Bassham, Everley Bassham, Terry Bassham, and soon-to-arrive Mandalynn Bassham. She is also survived by her siblings, James (Billy) Farmer (Mary), Kenneth (Kenny) Farmer (Jackie), David Farmer (Linda), Joe Farmer (Brenda), and Tammy Bennett (Dave). She is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Debbie's faith in Jesus was the driving force in her life. She was willing to talk about Him to anyone who would listen. Debbie's legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will continue to live on in all those who knew and loved her.

One of Debbie's favorite sayings was, "This too shall pass", and that is how she faced the trials of life, not letting anything keep her down, she would continue to push forward with a positive attitude, and a smile.

Special thanks to Melissa Marichalar for her help in caring for Debbie during her sickness, and ensuring she had nutritious meals; and to Harbor Hospice for the care they provided.

There will be a Celebration of her life on Tuesday, October 20, 2025 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church Highlands.
