Linda Marie Finch, born on September 9, 1954, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Robert B. and Connie (Sanchez) Hernandez. Her journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on August 15, 2025, in the same town where she first greeted the world. Linda's life was one marked by dedication to her family, her profession, and her faith.
Linda had lived her younger years in Garden City before moving to Topeka in 1976 and returning in 2020. Linda's educational journey was as inspiring as it was impressive. She graduated from Garden City Senior High in 1972, followed by the Stormont School of Nursing, where she received her RN in 1979. Her pursuit of excellence in nursing led her to obtain a BSN from Washburn University in 1992. Her commitment to her vocation was recognized in 2002 when she was honored as the Association Director of Nursing of the Year. Linda's professional path was as diverse as it was impactful. She worked in long-term care, served as a hospice nurse, and provided critical care in ICU and CCU. In her later years, she continued her calling at the Ranch House, where her presence was a comfort to many. Linda loved her work so much that she retired twice, each time returning to the profession she couldn't stay away from. Like her mother before her, Linda chose a vocation that truly made a difference in the lives of countless individuals. Her service to others extended beyond her professional life. Along with Deborah, Linda was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Garden City. Linda's life was a testament to the power of caring and the impact one person can have on so many. Her unwavering dedication to her family, her patients, and her faith will be remembered as a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Linda's legacy continues through her cherished family: her Children-Jennifer Finch (Amanda Clark) and Jonathan Finch (Kellsey Mains); her Partner-Deborah A. Bader; her Father, Robert M Hernandez Sr. of Garden City; her siblings, Sally Hernandez and Rosann (Lynn) Hilliard, both of Garden City, Richard (Jean) Hernandez of Gardner, Kansas, and Jerry (Raidene) Hernandez of Brea, Ohio and Bobby Hernandez; Brother-in-Laws- Mario Ramos and Don (Muriel) Bader -Also mourning her loss are countless cousins, nieces, nephews, uncle, aunts, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a myriad of friends who were touched by her warm presence. She was preceded in death by her loving mother Connie Hernandez, her brother Chris Hernandez, sister Rita Ramos and her uncle Fred Sanchez.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday August 30, 2025 at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doris Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the 2025 Garden City Memory Walk or The Emmaus House in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N 7th, Garden City, KS 67846 620-276-3219
