Linda Glisson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kornegay Funeral Home - Camden Chapel on Jan. 30, 2024.
Linda Sue Glisson, 75, died on Monday, January 29, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Alexander Lawrence Glisson, Jr. and Evelyn Marie Biggs Glisson. A memorial service to celebrate her life and accomplishments will be held at a later date.
Linda had a long and successful career as an editor, writer and photographer in Washington, DC, her long-time home, starting at US News & World Report and concluding after nearly 30 years with the National Trust for Historic Preservation's National Main Street Center (Main Street America). She received recognition and accolades for the excellence of her work throughout the years, and at the National Trust and Main Street she built many long-time, close friendships, which she cherished. In retirement and before her health prevented it, Linda turned her love of photography into an avocation, spending her days at the Smithsonian's National Zoo or on the streets of Washington, DC, baseball cap on with her camera in hand. If she wasn't taking pictures, she was at her computer editing and sharing her pictures with others. She loved all the animals at the National Zoo, as is evidenced by her many photographs taken there, even having some of them published in the Friends of the National Zoo's Zoogoer Magazine. But her main love was the pandas. She spent hours at the zoo with the pandas, making many new friends with this shared passion and with whom she even traveled to China just to visit pandas. Linda had everything panda and enjoyed sharing that love with others.
Linda is survived by her brother, Larry Glisson (Lynn), Niece Laurie Dukes (Trey), Nephew John Glisson, Great-Nephew Lucas and Great-Nieces Elle and Phoenix. Even though her family was small in number, Linda was blessed with so many friends including her "panda family" and special friends Debra Wise and Suzanne, Rebecca and William Dane. The family would like to thank the staff of Wellmore of Lexington, McLeod Home Care, Agape Hospice and Live Long Well Care for their care of Linda during her time here in South Carolina.
Memorials may be made in Linda's memory to Conservation Nation, 1717 K ST NW STE 900, Washington, DC 20006-5349 www.conservationnation.org.
