Linda (Goold) Hulett, age 87, of Grand Rapids, MI, went to be with her Lord, and was reunited with her husband Jim, on Monday, March 23, after a difficult battle with ALS.
She will be remembered as a strong Christian woman who loved God, her husband, and her family. Through life's challenges, Linda persisted with love and caring, quick with a laugh. Her family fondly reflects on Linda's immense talent, wonderful sense of humor, thoughtful wisdom in reflecting before she spoke, her love of reading, and - of course - her love of Pepsi.
Linda was an accomplished artist who loved to paint, draw, sew, and create a wide variety of crafts. She was also a quilter and never met a project she couldn't master. Family members treasure artwork and crafts throughout their houses. A keen observer of nature's beauty, Linda reflected her love and reverence for God's creation through her drawings and paintings.
She loved working with children of all ages and was often found reading, telling stories, or crafting with the children of the many churches she and Jim served. Above all, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her children and their families: James Jr. and Jan Hulett, Julie and Tim Howard, Lisa and Steven Sikkenga, and Chris and Erica Hulett. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ryan and Jennifer Hulett (Hannah), Mike and Brittany Hulett (Wilder), Sharayah and Michael Gariepy (Griffin, Oona, Kian Link), Melissa and Juan Carlos Fierro, Courtney and David Schwarm (Ezra, Noah), Jon and Kait Howard (Emerson), Matthew Sikkenga, Katie and Tyler Avink (Madelyn), Grace Hulett.
Also surviving are Linda's siblings: Josephine Harris, Alice and David Sorrel, Pamela Goold, William and Diane Goold, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the children's ministries of the Samburu church. Checks should be made out to Global Impact Mission with "Samburu Children-Hulett Memorial" in the notation line.
