Linda Jacobs Obituary
1952 - 2026
Southwick
It is with much sadness that the family of Linda A. Jacobs announces her sudden passing on January 2, 2026. Linda was a devoted educator for almost forty years in the Southwick school system. More than a teacher and advisor, she became a life-long friend with many students.
Linda was born on October 19, 1952 in Dedham, MA. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Viola (Capone) Jacobs. Linda graduated from Dedham High School and continued her education at Westfield State University, bringing her out to western MA, which became her new home that she truly loved. She received her Masters degree from AIC in Springfield. Throughout her entire educational career, she continued to take numerous courses, keeping up to date in her field of Science. Not only a mentor to many students, she also mentored, helped, and encouraged many new teachers throughout her long career.
Linda loved Cape Cod and spending as much time as possible at her Cape house; cooking and entertaining her family, which meant everything to her; and her friends. An avid Boston sports fan, she enjoyed following all the Boston teams.
Linda is survived by her devoted sister, Paula LeBlanc of Southwick, MA; her niece, Danielle (LeBlanc) Maurice, and her great niece, Isadora Maurice, both of Wilbraham, MA; her very large extended family; and numerous friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 14 at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick, with burial to follow in New Cemetery, Southwick. There are no calling hours.

Linda's passing. she was a valuable member of the Southwick High School community for decades. Not only was she a gifted teacher, Linda was a loving friend to many. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Rest in peace, Linda.

Ms Jacobs truly made a difference in my life. She reminded me that I had a voice when I just wanted to hide. She invited me to be a part of Peer Ed and taught me leadership qualities which led me to more confidence. Honestly, as I reflect, I emotionally survived high school because of her. Ms Jacobs was always approachable and always pushed you to be the best you could be. I never forgot the impact she had on my life. She'll always be remembered. My prayers for her family. My deepest condolences to the family. Miss Jacobs chose our freshman play for the annual Contest of Plays (1975). She chose a serious period play that many freshmen would struggle to interpret. Her casting, direction, and guidance helped us grasp the deeper meaning of the play, and excel in our performances. I know her content was science, but I've always remembered her with fondness for drama club.

I had the privilege of working in Linda´s Science classes as an Inclusion Aide. She had such respect for her students and they certainly respected her. She was such a talented, knowledgeable teacher with a good sense of humor. Her Students just "knew" when she was kidding & when she was serious. She had tremendous respect from her colleagues as well. She definitely loved her students, her dogs, her family & the Cape. She will be missed. Prayers go out to her sister Paula & family.

Linda lived across the hall from me at Scanlon Hall dorm at Westfield State back in 1973. I knew Paula also and we all ended up teaching at Southwick Schools. Linda was so friendly and kind and caring. She will be missed.
