Linda Johnston was born on April 11, 1942, and passed away on March 30, 2026. Visitation be Friday, April 3, 2026, at Pleasant Hill Church from Noon until 2:00 PM with service following. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Brother Chris Weldon from Pleasant Hill Church officiating. Please wear casual dress, since Linda was a casual loving person.

Linda graduated from Central High School in Florence, AL on May 23, 1960. She attended and graduated from Anderson Business School in Decatur, AL in 1961.

Linda was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Church, Florence, AL where she was a member of the choir, served as the Church Historian and on the Cemetery Committee where she helped archive the church history and map the cemetery for church historical records.

Linda was an avid genealogy researcher with 40+ years of accomplished research. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a long-time member of the Natchez Trace Genealogical Society.

Linda worked in many business offices throughout the Shoals area during her career with the most notable as the Office Manager at Dr. Rivers Lindsay's dental office where she later transitioned to the Office Manager of Dr. James Maples once Dr. Lindsay retired.

Linda was preceded in death by her first husband, Jackie Melton Brown; son, James Raymond Brown; mother and father, Nancy Lorena Whitten and John Vernie Butler; and her sister, Glenda Faye Butler Richardson.

She is survived by her husband Charles " Chuck" W. Johnston; her daughter, Elizabeth Brown Shaw (Scott), her daughter-in-law Darla Tate Brown; grandson Sam Shaw; granddaughter, Kathryne Ann Brown Horn (Casey); great-grandchildren, Riley Jo Horn and Mason Horn; stepdaughter, Linda Sutherland (Eric); 10 step grandchildren; 46 step-great grandchildren, 5 step-great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers will be Scott Shaw, Sam Shaw, Price Rhodes, Donnie Hines, Jerry Fulmer, and Dwane Rhodes.

Linda loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
