Linda Marie Jones was born on August 11, 1952 to her parents Idell Fitzgerald Jones
and L.A. Jones in Chicago, Illinois. She was the paternal twin of Leonard Jones.
Linda grew up with her siblings Delores, Leonard, and Melvin in Rockwell Gardens.
Linda was very active in her Youth, and loved to spend time with her siblings. Linda
was a Majorette at Grant High School until the family moved to 4710 W. Jackson
Blvd. From there, Linda transferred to Austin High School and graduated in 1969, a
year early. Linda was the Valedictorian of her graduating class.
Linda also excelled in her professional Career. Linda worked for Newark Electronics,
now known as Element 14, for almost 40 years. She started as a Secretary and
climbed the ladder to Accounts Manager. Linda took on the role of the Outreach
Committee at Newark for fundraisers. Linda also coordinated all holiday parties for
Newark and did their Holiday decorating. She retired in 2015.
Linda accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age and started her Christian journey on
the west side at a Church located at the intersection of Hamlin and Madison, and later
joined St Paul Church of God in Christ, under the Leadership of Bishop Louis Ford. In
her later years, Linda attended Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park, Illinois.
Linda made her transition on November 19, 2021. She is preceded in death by her
parents, Idell and L.A. Jones, and her brothers, Leonard and Melvin Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Her sister, Delores Jones; niece, Sabrina Jones; God-
daughter, Samantha Sibby; God-son, Josiah Turner; cousins, Trinett Wilson (Bill),
Carolyn Livingston, Joseph Livingston, Michael Dodd, Adrian Harris and Ameris Fields;
her best friend, Robin Johnson; and a host of other family members and friends.
