Linda Overton Junkin, age 71, of Gordo AL passed away August 3, 2025 at home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will follow the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Junkin and parents.
Survivors include her son, Chad Junkin (Amanda L.); daughters, Amanda A. Junkin and Dana Junkin; beloved grandchildren ,Thomas Floyd, Tristan Floyd and Colt Junkin; her brothers, Dwight Overton (June) and Mike Overton; sister, Doris Sanford (Stanley); brother-in-law, Kenneth Junkin and sister-in-law, Pamela J. Hayes (Jody) and several nieces and nephews.
Linda was born October 11, 1953 to the late Huel H. Overton and Christine Johnson Overton in Tuscaloosa. She graduated from Tuscaloosa County High in 1972. Over the years she made many friends while working at South Central Bell Telephone Company, XL Manufacturing, and Eye Care Associates. Most people know her best for repairing their glasses. After she retired from Eye Care Associates, she adjusted glasses every where from the Walmart parking lot to service stations to living rooms to church.
She had a gift for loving people. You never left her presence without knowing you were loved. During one of her hospital visits, she told a nurse. "I can't do much, but I can love". And she did it well. She was known for her beautiful smile, her sense of humor even when days were tough, and she let everyone know how much she loved her kids, her grandkids, and her Lord.
Our hearts are broken with her passing but we know that parting is only temporary. When our beloved Mama and Ghee Ghee took her last breath here, she entered into the presence of the Lord. We will see her again.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Junkin, Philip Junkin, Tim Junkin, Jeff Gilliam, Bryan Sanford and Jon Bowers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the ladies of Esther Sunday School class, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Shawn Golden, Karen Montgomery, Sheree Gilliam, Emily Holland, Dr. Craig Buettner and staff, Dr. Smith Giri and staff of Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, Traci Junkins and Amedisys, ACG Hospice nurses Nickie Hammonds, Kelli Hicks and Laura Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Youth Missions, P.O. Box 301, Gordo, AL 35466.
