Linda Ann McCown, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on August 11, 1947, in Gorman, Texas, Linda's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of living each day to the fullest.
Linda's journey began as the daughter of the late Billy Ray and Pat Morrison, whose values and love shaped her into the extraordinary woman she became. Her life was further enriched by her loving husband, Jerry McCown, with whom she shared countless memories until his passing in 2006.
Linda's spirit was characterized by her unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her devoted sons, Bill Morrison and his wife Tina of San Angelo, Texas, Dirk McCown of Paint Rock, Texas, and Jay McCown and his wife Traci of Amarillo, Texas. Her legacy continues through the lives of her 3 cherished grandchildren, GK Morrison and wife Addi of Lubbock, Tx, Jayden McCown and Jaci McCown both of Amarillo, Tx. who brought immense happiness to her life. Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry McCown, her parents Billy Ray and Pat Morrison, her daughter Penny Rogers, and her grandson Gavin Morrison, all of whom she held dear to her heart.
Linda's professional life was marked by her role as a secretary for the Teamsters Union, where her diligence and commitment were evident to all who worked alongside her. Beyond her work, Linda's passions painted a vivid picture of her vibrant personality. As a member of the Lone Star Cloggers, she found joy in dance, and her love for bowling, bunco, and fishing provided endless opportunities for laughter and companionship. Linda's prowess in the kitchen was renowned, leading to the publication of three cookbooks that remain a cherished legacy of her culinary talent.
Taco Villa held a special place in Linda's heart as her favorite dining spot, a testament to her love of simple pleasures and good food. Her enthusiasm for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers was infectious, making game days an event to remember. A game show junkie, with a knack for movie trivia, Linda's TV was always set to the Game Show channel. Her competitive spirit was unmatched.
Christmas was Linda's favorite holiday, and she celebrated with a gusto that brought joy to all who were lucky enough to experience her festive spirit. Her decorations were a sight to behold, capturing the magic and wonder of the season.
Linda's giving nature was the cornerstone of her existence. She loved her family and grandkids with an intensity that was both inspiring and comforting. Her presence was a gift to those who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the countless memories and the indelible mark she has left on our hearts. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light for her family and friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Friday, March 1, 2024 at the McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Chamness officiating.
