With Love, We Remember
Linda Jane Murphy, 78, of Greenwood, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 30, 1947, in Rochester, New York, to Wallace A. VanderLyke and Jane VanderLyke (Neal). Linda worked diligently at Klein Tools in Fort Smith, Arkansas, for 36 years before retiring in 2015. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence made her a respected and valued member of her workplace community.
Linda's life was one of dedication and care - not only to her work but most importantly to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be remembered for her devotion and her giving spirit. Linda especially cherished time spent crocheting and sewing, fishing for catfish, and cooking meals for her family. She was known as a hard-working and compassionate caregiver, particularly devoted to caring for her parents in their later years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wallace E. VanderLyke; and her daughter, Michelle Murphy (2012). Linda is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Willard and Rhonda Murphy of Greenwood, Arkansas; her brother and sister-in-law, Lenard and Rosella VanderLyke of Ozark; six grandchildren - Chris, Aireck, Jesse, Courtney, Nickolas, and Hunter; and four great-grandchildren - Adeleigh, Isla, Madison, and Saphira.
Linda will be remembered as a strong, selfless woman who worked hard, loved deeply, and lived her life in service to her family. Her legacy of love, care, and dedication will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her. Cremation is under the thoughtful care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
