In Loving Memory of Jim Champion
Jimmy Dale Champion, 76, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Jim was born on May 20, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Robert "Gordon" and Mandy "Christene" Champion. He was a proud graduate of Luxora High School and went on to earn his degree from Askins Vo-Tech in Air Conditioning. On June 30, 1968, Jim married the love of his life, Sheryle Jean Brown, in Orlando, Florida. Together they shared fifty-seven beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures.
Jim dedicated thirty years of his career to Sparks Regional Medical Center, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. He also served his country honorably in the United States Army Reserves.
Jim had a zest for life and found joy in simple pleasures. He loved playing golf, hiking, mowing, and singing, but above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends. A man of deep faith, Jim was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord wholeheartedly. He placed God first in his life, followed by his unwavering love for his wife, family, and friends. His greatest joy came from sharing conversations about faith and spending quality time with those he loved most.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Sheryle Champion; his devoted daughter, Shennia Strong, and her husband, Roger; and his grandchildren, Charity Strong, and Joseph Strong and his wife, Erica. He is also survived by his brothers, R.G. Champion, Gary Lee Champion, and Lloyd Sterling Champion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bobby Champion and Billy Wayne Champion; and his grandparents, William and Minnie Champion, and Hobie and Minnie Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at River Glenn Chapel, 1805 North A Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas, with Pastor Andy O'Neal officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the same location.
Jim lived a full and joyful life, and his legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
