Linda O'Neil Obituary

Linda Mae Grimsley O'Neil entered heaven's gates peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Her husband of 42 years, Pastor Hugh O'Neil and brother, William R. Mills, preceded her in death. Hugh and Linda served their LORD faithfully for 27 years in Miami, Florida. They ministered at Allapattah Baptist Church, Riverside Baptist Church, Miami Beach First Baptist Church, Oceanside Nursing Home, and Arch Creek Nursing Home.

After retirement, the O'Neils moved to Tyrone, Georgia and were committed members at Sandy Creek Baptist Church and Kenwood Baptist Church. Though Hugh and Linda had no biological children, they "created a family" in Miami. Charlie and Amy Vicoy, and their daughter, Charamy, loved them very much and enjoyed their role in family vacations and holidays.

After Hugh's passing in December 2020, Gene and Marge Garrett became Linda's "family." They cared for her at her home in Tyrone until January 2023. After a fall, it became clear that Linda required additional assistance. She became part of the "family" at Corinth Road Personal Care Home in Newnan, GA. This family included residents, fellow family members, and an amazing staff that provided 24/7 care. In October 2025, Linda became part of the Guiding Light Hospice "family." Although it was only for a few weeks, they provided the comfort care she needed to "finish the race strong."

Linda's family of caregivers expanded through the ministry of two faithful servant leaders. Pastor Lynn McClain and his wife, Linda, from her home church, Kenwood Baptist Church (229 Kenwood Road, Fayetteville, GA) and Pastor Scott Blake and his wife April, from Without Walls Ministries (located next door to Corinth Road Personal Care Home). This convenient proximity allowed residents to walk to church and enjoy fellowship with the members.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Resthaven Garden of Memory, Decatur, GA. A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30 at Kenwood Baptist Church. A cake and ice cream reception will be held in the fellowship hall immediately after the service. Please wear bright colors to celebrate Linda Mae's entrance into eternity.

Linda loved all creatures created by God; especially cats, deer, squirrels, birds, and dogs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Royal Animal Refuge in Tyrone, GA or the Newnan Coweta Humane Society.
