Linda Patten Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 30, 2023.
Linda Margaret (Scott) Patten, March 15, 1950 - June 28, 2023
On June 28, 2023 mom got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 73 years old.
Mom was always a people person and thought about the needs of others around her. That's what made her such a great nurse! From her time on the med/surg floors, playing softball with her fellow 4th Floor Flyers, to the Vets Unit and ending her working career in the Emergency Department. She loved being a nurse and missed her work family terribly after retirement.
She was a lifelong sports fan, and wouldn't miss a Blue Jays or Toronto Maple Leafs game, or any curling on tv. I was lucky to bowl with her, as she did with her mom, on team "Pioneers" in the Wednesday morning ladies bowling league.
She was also a master negotiator between dad and I, not afraid to stand up for what she believed in, fiercely stubborn and alllllllways had to have the last word :) "Two wrongs don't make a right" was her go-to advice when facing a tough situation.
But mom's biggest passion in life was family!
Mom, and nan before her, taught us all what is really important in life - to love, support and care for friends and family in our lives.
Often travelling or volunteering for someone's baseball or hockey events, then being Cooper & Ethan's #1 fan in the stands. Summers spent with the family at the camp in Brazil Lake were always memorable and we will all cherish those Hummingbird Haven memories forever.
Mom is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tim, daughter Heather, and the apples or her eyes - her grandsons Cooper & Ethan. Also left to mourn her passing are sisters Louise Surette (Austin) and Sharon Laverie (Jim), brothers Mike Scott (Ramona) and Rob Scott (Dawn), sister-in-law Pam McGuire, brother-in-law Dell Patten (Marianne), aunt Norma Goodwin (Larry) as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Lloyd & Jean (Pitman) Scott, in-laws Alfred & Mable (Muise) Patten, sister & brother-in-law Lois & Bob Devine, aunt Jessie Belle Johnson, and uncle Ross (Buzz) Pitman.
To honour mom's memory, a Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday, July 4th from 1pm - 3pm at New Heights Church hall in Arcadia. Family flowers only. If you would like to remember mom with a memorial donation, please consider Yarmouth Hospital Foundation, the Gilles Boudreau & Friends Cancer Help Fund, Wedgeport & Plymouth volunteer fire department or a charity of your choice.
Thank you to the first responders and staff of Yarmouth Regional Hospital Emergency Department for your care & compassion.
I have lost my wonderful mother, friend, adviser and mentor. I am so honored to have been her daughter. I am grieving for the amazing relationship I had with her. I am grieving for my dad who has lost the best wife it is possible to have had, and for my boys who have only known this wonderful grandmother for such a short time in their lives. She will be remembered and always loved by all those whose lives she touched.
If Roses Grow in Heaven
If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother's arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there's an ache within my heart that will never go away.
