Linda Gail Powell, 67, of Big Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, August 28, 2025. She was born on August 25, 1958, in Detroit, MI, and from the very beginning brought joy, energy, and love to those around her.

Linda had a magnetic personality and those around her were drawn to her. She was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived a life defined by strength, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was a woman who gave her whole heart to those she loved, whether through her steady support, her sense of humor, or the warmth of her smile. Linda faced life's challenges with resilience and grace, and even during the most difficult times, she remained a source of encouragement and comfort to others.

Family was the center of Linda's world. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Anthony Lee Powell of Big Rapids, and a proud and loving mother to her daughters, Becky Grooters of Kansas and Amanda (William) Edwards of Tustin, MI and son Jeff (Sarah) Prunty. Forever cherished and remembered by her five grandchildren: Kodi Wansted, Dawson Steig, Ethan and John Prunty, and Gage Jeffries, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins who shared in her joyful spirit. Each of them brought her immense pride, and she delighted in being around them. She is preceded in death by her father Richard Everett Hedges and mother Helen Rose Hedges.

Linda also cherished the bonds and so many memories with her brothers: Richard (Lisa) Hedges of New Hudson, MI, Jeffrey (Michelle Wallace) Hedges of Pittsfield Township, MI, and Michael Italiano (Rob) Hedges of Tucson, AZ. Her family circle was large, and she loved deeply and widely, keeping close connections across miles and years.

Beyond her devotion to family, Linda lived life with passion and adventure. She found her greatest joy on the open road, riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle, where she embraced freedom and the thrill of the journey. She also had a competitive spirit and was an accomplished arm wrestler, even earning the title of champion - a testament to her strength, determination, and fun-loving nature.

She will be remembered for her generosity, her infectious smile and overwhelming laughter. She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path and had the ability to make others feel at home in her presence. Whether through a heartfelt conversation, a thoughtful gesture, or her steady encouragement, Linda left an imprint of love on everyone she met. She has forever left footprints on everyone's heart and will always be remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00am at the Reed City Fire Hall: 523 Morse Street, Reed City, MI 49677. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Hospice of Michigan in her memory. Envelopes will be provided at her memorial.
