Proffer, Linda Lu - age 83, of Flint, passed away July 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 5073 Daly Boulevard, Flint. Interment at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 4-9 PM Monday, July 28 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc; and 11:00 AM until the service time at 12 Noon Tuesday, July 29 at the church.
Linda was born December 12, 1941 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Leland and Fern (McNally) Shears. She married Jerry Proffer on January 2, 1959. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 21, 2003. She was a wonderful homemaker and particularly liked to sew. Linda was always supporting her children and grandchildren, attending all their sporting events to cheer them on. Linda's journey through life was adorned with memories of laughter, resilience, and the beauty found in simple moments. Linda became a pillar of strength for many, offering her wisdom and guidance freely. She had an extraordinary ability to listen, making each person feel seen and valued-qualities that will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. To her family, friends, nieces and nephews she taught them the meaning of true love and what belonging in a family is all about.
She is survived by two children, Eric (Carla) Proffer and Kelli (Todd) Derr; grandchildren, Amanda (Jake) Poe, Alyssa (Steve) Anton, Corbin Derr, Coltin Derr, Sarah Klinert; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Aliyah, Ezra, Eric, Lincoln, and Carsynn; brothers, Lee Shears and Richard Shears; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Fern Shears; husband, Jerry Proffer, son, Thomas Proffer and sister, Nancy Shears.
