Linda Renfro, 68, of Hewitt, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, after her 5-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on September 30, 1956, in Beaumont, Texas, Linda was the daughter of the late Alwyn Kent and Margarete Ramb Simmons. Raised in Kemah, Texas, Linda grew up with her three sisters, Dianne, Ann, and Betty Lynn, as well as her two brothers, Karl and Al.
Throughout her life, Linda devoted her time in helping support her family in whatever way was needed, holding various positions as stay at home mom, daycare director, real estate agent, and custodian. However, her most cherished roles were those of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Linda’s love and care for her family were boundless, and she was the biggest cheerleader for her sons and grandsons. Linda had a zest for life and many hobbies, including decorating, cooking, baking, playing the piano, singing, writing, and coming up with ways to spoil her grandkids. She was known for keeping her husband, Larry, busy with her constant home renovation projects, and it was always a surprise to see her most recent creation. Her latest adventure was writing a children’s book inspired by her grandson, Sam’s, love of trains. The book, which will be published in the coming months, beautifully depicts the journey of a train to illustrate that there is only one track we can take to arrive at Glory's Gate—a great memory of her dedication to both her grandsons and her faith. A devout Christian, Linda was a longtime member of Abundant New Life Assembly of God Church in Waco, Texas, and continuously worked to instill her faith in her family and friends.
Linda will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved her. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Larry Renfro; her sons, Daniel Renfro (wife Jessica) and Greg Renfro (wife Christine); and her grandsons, Sam and Ethan Renfro. She is also survived by her sisters, Dianne York and Ann Shamblin, and her brother, Al Simmons. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alwyn Kent and Margarete Ramb Simmons, her brother Karl Simmons, and her sister Betty Lynn Simmons.
