Linda Scott Richardson

Linda Scott Richardson, age 81, passed away on December 17th, 2025, peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was filled with joy at the thought of returning to her Heavenly Home.

Linda, a curly blonde–haired girl, was born on July 6, 1944. Growing up, she believed the fireworks on the Fourth of July were a special celebration just for her. She was the sixth of fourteen children born to Austin Scott and Ruth Musser Workman in Holladay, Utah. Linda was shy and quiet around others, but she deeply loved being an older sister and lovingly cared for her many younger brothers and sisters. From a young age, she couldn't wait for the day she would become a mother herself.

Linda married Darrow Wight Richardson on August 19th, 1965, in the Salt Lake Temple. Soon after, they moved to Seattle, Washington, to begin their life together. At first, Linda found the Pacific Northwest cold and lonely, but over time, she grew to love the weather and the meaningful relationships they built there. Linda and Darrow enjoyed camping, hiking, and exploring the beautiful outdoors, often taking weekend camping trips with their children.

Unable to have children of their own, but with a strong desire to be a mother, Linda and Darrow chose adoption. They lovingly adopted four children, welcoming each new addition with excitement and gratitude: Spencer Scott, Ann Alisa, Don Bradley, and Janae Alaine. Linda cherished being a mom. She loved sewing clothes, baking fresh bread, teaching piano, and sharing her love of good books. Later, she was thrilled to experience the joy of grandmotherhood through her five grandchildren. She cherished her time babysitting, reading to them, taking them on walks, and enjoying Creamies together. She proudly embraced her role as their "Creamie Grandma" and cherished spending the last 10 years living with them and watching them grow up.

Linda attended Olympus High School, LDS Business College, Brigham Young University, and the University of Nevada, Reno, where she earned a degree in Speech Pathology. Though she did not pursue the degree professionally, her education was not wasted. She worked for many years in the Audiology Department at LDS Hospital, later as a realtor, and eventually for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before retiring. Linda enjoyed each job and appreciated learning new skills and the friendships she made.

Family was deeply important to Linda. For many years, she lived far from extended family and faithfully wrote weekly letters when phone calls were too expensive. She treasured updates about family life and felt sad when she missed important events. After the death of her husband in 1989, Linda moved back to Utah with her children. She was grateful to be close to the people she loved most and enjoyed attending family gatherings and spending time with her siblings whenever possible.

Linda had a passion for gardening and took great pride in her yard. She completed the Master Gardener program and loved sharing the abundance from her large garden.

Above all, Linda had a deep love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She showed unwavering faith, determination, and gratitude through life's most difficult challenges. She rarely complained and instead focused on loving and serving others. Linda faithfully served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Relief Society President, Temple Worker, Ward Organist, Primary teacher, and Girls camp director. There wasn't anything she wouldn't try. She loved serving others in any way she could.

Her love, compassion, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by her family.

Linda is survived by her son Spencer Scott Richardson, her daughter Janae Alaine Cooper (Travis), and her grandchildren Paisley, Regan, Traveller, Hadley, and Tyner Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband Darrow, her son Don, and her daughter Ann.

Interment will take place at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
