Goff Mortuary - MidvaleDoris Kyle Spear Klein left this life peacefully on February 21, 2026 at the age of 76. Doris was born on January 19, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dean and Elizabeth Spear. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1968 and went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Westminster College in 1972.
Doris was born with a moderate hearing loss that progressed to severe hearing loss, but she didn’t let that get in her way. She was a proficient horsewoman and competed in many shows. She also loved to swim and ski. Doris enjoyed being social. She was not shy about meeting new people and making friends. While in assisted living she liked the opportunity to deliver newspapers to some of the other residents and the weekly menus too. She is quoted as saying “I’m definitely an extrovert.”
Doris was diagnosed with MS in her early 40’s. Though it progressed to the point that she was wheelchair bound she continued to have a positive attitude and made sure she did what she could for herself. Her fortitude and upbeat attitude to keep going was inspirational.
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Megan Brimhall (Scott) and their five kids along with 2 great-granddaughters of West Point; Shannon Ludvigson (Josh) of Salt Lake; her brother Jack Spear (Debbie) of Madison, Wisconsin and her sister Patty Bernstrom (Ralph) of Madison, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, her sister Leslie Stone (Jeff) of Huntington Beach, California and her second husband, Steve Klein of Salt Lake.
The family would like to thank Chancellor Gardens for the several years of care, providing Doris with a home where she thrived and most recent Monument Health Bountiful for providing her with the utmost care through sweet nurses and CNA’s the past year and a half and especially in her last few days.
A celebration of life open house will be held at Monument Health Bountiful, 460 West 2600 South, Bountiful from 6:30pm-8:00pm on Friday March 6, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, Doris’s memory can be honored through online donations to the National MS Society.
