Linda Roberts, age 79, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 18, 2025 in Grayling, MI.
Linda was born on June 8, 1946 in Temperance, OH to Francis and Jewel (Woodson) VanKleeck. Linda was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, having devoted her life wholeheartedly to the Lord. Her faithfulness inspired her to shape future generations by answering the call to teach in Christian schools—though some might say it was also a clever way to keep a close eye on her four sons.
Blessed with a “green thumb,” she cultivated a home that bloomed like a greenhouse—her love for gardening was both evident and enduring. Linda also carried a deep compassion for others, especially the elderly, and generously gave her time as a volunteer at Grayling Nursing and Rehabilitation. A fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions, she cheered them on with true loyalty. Though her earthly presence will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that her soul lives on in the eternal embrace of the Lord.
Linda is survived by her children, James Roberts of Roscommon, David (Jessica) Roberts of Colorado, Paul (Brandi) Roberts of North Dakota, Michelle (Ryan) Schenk of Grayling, and Joy (Robert) Cowper of Arizona; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Diana Saylor of Ohio.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Roberts; son, Michael Roberts; daughter, Elizabeth Roberts; brother, William VanKleeck; and sister, Elizabeth VanKleeck.
Visitation and viewing will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 10:00 am until the start of Linda's Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Grayling, MI with Pastor Phillip Niederer officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, MI.
