LINDA ELIZABETH SEBA
Linda Elizabeth Seba, age 74, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 19, 2021.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Linda was born in Marshall, Missouri to Carl T. Barr and Mildred E (Odell) Barr on October 8th, 1946. During her childhood, Linda's mom and dad owned a Gambles Hardware Store in Mexico, Missouri, where she spent time helping in the store and visiting with customers. During the summer, she would visit her grandma and grandpa on the farm, riding the "Puddle Jumper" back and forth. During these trips, she would ride with the conductor, where they would pass the time by playing a competitive game of checkers or cards. At sixteen, Linda's first job outside the store was working at the local drive-in, mastering the skill of roller skating while serving milk shakes.
After graduating high school, Linda completed training as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Mexico, Missouri. She then made the decision to move to Hannibal, Missouri to further her education as an X-Ray Technician. During this time, Linda met a fellow by the name of John on a blind date. After dinner in Quincy, Illinois and a movie, "The Sound of Music", the rest is history! On July 12, 1969, Linda was joined in marriage with her husband John L. Seba.
Early in the their marriage, Linda and John both enjoyed bowling and decided to join a league with good friends. Even though Linda was never one to use foul language, it always brought much laughter for many years later, hearing that she had written on the bottom of her bowling shoe the words "oh sh@t". Whenever her timing was off, she would kick up her heal for the team to see.
John and Linda moved to Kansas City in 1970 and soon after were blessed with their daughter, Janna. In 1976, they moved to Raymore, Missouri, where Linda worked for thirty-two years as a school nurse in the Raymore and Peculiar school district. As a school nurse for many years, she would always run into students from past years, who were so happy to see her and would always give her big hugs. It was through her work, that she found passion in working with the youth.
Linda spent most of her life caring for others and later in life enjoying her grandchildren. Together, John and Linda would always attend the grandkids' baseball games, soccer games and dance recitals. Linda enjoyed fishing, canoeing and camping with family and friends. She had a true love for animals, was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting books.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mildred Barr; and aunt Dorothy Odell.
She is survived by her loving husband of over fifty-two years, John L Seba; daughter, Janna Slead and her husband Shawn; and four grandchildren, Caleb Gates, Josie Gates, Jordyn Gates and Brooke Slead.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Saint Luke's Home Care and Hospice, 901 E 104th St Ste N3000 Kansas City, MO 64131
