Linda Stamey Obituary

Linda Stamey

Linda Carol Stamey, 77, of Newton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at her home. She was born on July 5, 1948, in Jasper, Ala.

Linda was a loving and caring woman, known as the peacemaker of her family. She enjoyed online shopping and going to yard sales, and she loved collecting dolls, glassware, and carnival glass. She is now free from pain and at peace.

She is survived by her three children, Michael Swindle and wife Glenda, Anita Swindle, and Windy Baxter and husband Michael Baxter; three brothers, Richard James and wife Patsy, Gary James and wife Della, and Chuck Butts and wife Carrie; and two sisters, Ann Barga and Betty Sullivan and husband Jeff. A special mention goes to her granddaughter, Melia Prince, who was always there for her. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Jearl Stamey; her mother, Evelyn Butts; Thomas Leon James; two sons, Andy Swindle and Brian Swindle; her great-granddaughter, Katlyn; and her great-grandbaby, Angel.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Rd., Newton, NC 28658. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Celebration Center at Jenkins Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Carolina Caring or the Humane Society of Catawba County.
