Linda Ann Thomas, age 83, of Chippewa Twp., formerly of Wampum, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025. Born April 17, 1942 to Anthony and Angeline Quintana Sbarro of Wampum, PA, Linda was married to the love of her life, George P. Thomas, Jr. for almost 41 years. A 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, PA, she was a dedicated student and mother and continued to pursue education and a career in nursing. She graduated from TMEC as a Medical Assistant in Toledo, Ohio (1972), achieved her License of Practical Nursing (LPN) in 1977 from Lawrence County Vo-Tech/Jameson Hospital in New Castle, PA, and finally became a graduate of the Community College of Beaver County as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1980, the same year that her son graduated high school.
She began her career as an LPN in 1977 at the Medical Center of Beaver County (now HVHS) and continued working there as an RN beginning in 1980 until her retirement in 2007 after 30 years of excellent service. After retirement, Linda worked another 10 years out of an agency taking care of a very special person, Jessica that she held close to her heart and loved dearly.
Linda had boundless energy. She loved cooking, baking, and entertaining family and friends. She was an avid Steeler and Pirates fan, and she and her husband did a lot of traveling in their younger days.
She loved going to the Casino with her daughters, sister Ellen, and dear friend and former coworker, Denise Cribbs—making a yearly trip to Las Vegas together.
Another dear and close friend was Karol Gilbert for over 45 years. In their heyday, they had great times and vacations together. She also valued her dear and lifetime friend, Rose J. Grinnen. Also born in Lower Chewton in 1942, they grew up together and always remained friends.
A beloved wife and matriarch, she is survived her husband, George; daughters, Jacquelyn S. (Alan) Gilmore and Jamie L. (Todd) Fijewski; stepdaughters, Linda A. Keefer and Karen M. White; grandchildren, Angelina M. Mount, Joshua K. Mount, Alex J. (Andy) Weiss, Adam T. Kremmel, Evan M. Kremmel, Emily A. Kremmel, Owen R. Fijewski; and great-grandchildren, Aidan, Madison, Elliot, Abel, Harper, Oliver, and Quintana; sister, Ellen L. (Frank) Bekoski and brother, Anthony J. Sbarra; and many nieces and nephews.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, George P. Thomas, Sr. and Grace M. (Smith); her son Jerold H. Mount, Jr.; stepson, Gerald L. Thomas; grandsons, David C. Lysiak and Stephen J. Lysiak; sisters, Carmella J. Russell, Christina M. Allen and brother, Thomas W. Sbarra.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Linda’s memory at Campbell’s Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 (Randy R. Wheeler, supervisor, 724-843-2500) on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:30 p.m. An entombment will take place at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Ellwood City, PA.
